Field Studies of Megagravel Transport: Relevance for Coastal Infrastructure Engineering

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Extreme wave impacts on coastal infrastructure, including bridges, is a growing problem. Highest energy events are difficult to study because direct observations in real time almost impossible. Also the non‐linear dynamics model or reproduce scaled experiments. Coastal boulder deposits incorporating megagravel (y axis >4.1 m) provide natural analogues of infrastructure components such as bridge deck slabs; and field measurements these wave‐transported blocks can address this knowledge gap. In contribution we present geoscience data relating topography, climate, dislodgement up 620 tonnes. We hope that will generate new synergies among geocientists engineers.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

The Relevance of Institutional Infrastructure

The contribution of the ‘new economy’ to economic growth in developing countries has so far been minimal. Despite the recent hype, the ‘old economy’ will for long be the fundamental force behind economic growth in transition economies. Nonetheless, in the longer run the ‘new economy’ offers great potential for faster economic growth in postsocialist economies. Realizing this potential is howeve...

Inclusion of Health in Environmental Impact Assessment of Major Transport Infrastructure Projects in Vietnam

Background Infrastructure spending, especially in the transport sector, is expected to increase rapidly in Vietnam. This boost in transportation investment impacts health. Environmental impact assessments (EIAs) are essential tools for decision-making to reduce and mitigate anticipated impacts of development projects, and integration of health assessment as an essential part of the EIA process ...

Fipronil: mechanisms of action on various organisms and future relevance for animal models studies

Because insects had developed resistance to several insecticides, today, neonicotinoids and fiproles are used to combat pests. The difference between this two classes of insecticides is that fipronil acts by inhibiting the receptors of nervous cells, while neonicotinoids perturbs the neuronal transmission. The suitable properties of fipronil make that its use to be more obvious on the pesticide...
